A strength of the Church and what makes the Church is individuals becoming one in Christ. God never intended us to live isolated lives but to be a family that loves and serves each other. We want to create a community of disciples that live out the gospel in the context of the local Church, as a fellowship of believers. We want to open our homes, hearts, and live as a family. This is one of our strongest aspects here in Greece, especially among pluralistic cultures from the Middle East. We do this by:
-Events and gatherings
-Celebrating birthdays and certain holidays
-Sharing meals and hangouts
-Bible studies
-Outings with people to the mountains, parks or restaurants
-Being available and accessible to people
-Being there for people
Another reason we believe so strongly in fellowship is that it attracts non-believers. Especially in our culture here, but everywhere else as well, people are drawn to community and community is a great way for evangelism to take place. Many people who we work with from pluralistic cultures find the group to be very important. Salvation very much includes leaving one group and becoming a part of another. This can be quite different from the western idea of “I made a personal decision to follow Jesus”.
