Church Planting
We Long to see the nations worship and follow Jesus together

Church Planting is our heart and it is the stream that every other ministry we do flows from and to. We don’t want to do ministry that replaces the Church or pushes the Church to the side. Rather, we want to do ministry that empowers and supports the Church as well as flows outside of the Church.

If we are faithful to evangelism, discipleship, and social involvement then Churches are inevitable. The Church, God’s redeemed people living on mission together, doing life together, and being cared for by elders/pastors/leaders and other believers, is God’s plan for his people. It is the natural overflow of the Spirit’s work in God’s people and the leading of God’s word.

We believe the most effective way to reach Athens is by Church planting. In a city of nearly seven million people with an evangelical population of around 10,000. That is an evangelical population of  0.3%. We are currently serving on the core group of a multi-cultural Church plant. Below is a bit of information on why we are planting the Church and the heart behind it. *Note the information in italics below was written by the Lead Pastor of the Church plant. It is no means exhaustive but a great primer.

Vision:

We are praying about a truly intercultural church in Athens that:

-Welcomes outsiders unconditionally in the name of Jesus. This includes but is not limited to refugees.
-Brings reconciliation to a divided city. Through acts of service and united worship, we can be a witness of the inclusiveness of the gospel of Christ.
-Helps people meet Jesus and live as his disciples.
-Connects refugees to the body of Christ. Even those who travel on can be followed up as they move up into N. Europe.
-Responds in a focused way to the work of the Spirit in the hearts of the immigrants and refugees in our city. A church is uniquely designed by God to love holistically with both word and deed.
-Reflects the growing diversity of Athens and points forward to the multicultural worship we expect at the feet of Jesus in the last days.
-Focuses on accessibility to the gospel message and takes intentional steps to cross cultural barriers in every aspect of its mission and life.
-Provides a safe space for dealing with the pain of losing cultural identity and at the same time offers the opportunity to join in a new and living community of faith.

Mission:

-The church should be open to people of all cultures.
-The church seeks a balance between immigrants and Greeks in order to create stability and a solid anchor to the city.
-The church has in its DNA a missional, outward facing focus.
-The church emphasizes unity across cultural barriers, but still celebrates the uniqueness of each culture through community groups and integrated worship.
